About
Ever since the sixth grade when my dad let me first use his Canon point and shoot camera, I've been "snap-happy". I continued to take pictures voraciously throughout high school and college until I purchased my first digital camera in 2001. That year I got myself the Canon S30 for Christmas and took thousands of photos. The camera went with me around the world and back. I loved the freedom of being able to take as many shots as I wanted to without having to worry about the limitations of rolls of film. Digital allowed me to experiment and expand my horizons as a photographer. But the point and shoot camera still restricted where I could grow with my photography.
When my friend let me play with his Canon EOS Digital Rebel on day, I could not put it down. I was in awe of the clarity and color of the results. The depth of field from a DSLR was simply unattainable with a point and shoot camera. I bought myself a Digital Rebel and thus began my love affair with the Canon EOS family of DSLR cameras and lenses.
Since then I have traded up for a 20D and have taken thousands of photos. I loved sharing my photos via Flickr. Not before long I had many friends and acquaintances asking me questions about my camera. I found myself sending the same emails and answering the same questions about the Canon DSLR cameras. I realized that with the dropping prices of DSLR cameras more and more people are discovering the joys of digital SLR photography. The problem is that they all have to go through the same learning curve I did. It can be extremely overwhelming trying to understand the terminology and techniques. Listening to people talk about lenses I thought they were speaking another language! But now I speak that same language after only a small investment of time to learn. I scoured the web looking for sites and talked to friends who were experienced photographers to get tips. I realized that most people don't have access to experts and don't have the time to dig through all the online research. And most of the sites online are geared towards experienced photographers. That's why I created this site, for people who are inexperienced but hungry and want to become better photographers the way I do. So enjoy the site and more importantly enjoy your Canon DSLR camera!
