Filters
Filters can dramatically change how a picture looks. There are a variety of filters you can attach to your lens to give you anywhere from a hazy effect to special colors. Whenever you buy a lens, the first thing you should consider is getting a protective UV-filter. These usually cost only about $10-20 and will protect your investment from scratches or worse a crack. You can also purchase filter kits. The most popular brands of filters are Tiffen, Canon, Hoya, and B+W. When choosing a filter, you need to make sure you know the filter size of your lens, you can find this by checking out the specs under each model.
There are many types of filters ranging from those for color photography and black and white, polarizing, vignetting, soft focus, graduated natural density and more.
