I have photoshop 7 and I don't see photomerge under automate. Would it be called something else or am I out of luck?

Well, it's in Automate, for sure... but if it's not in version 7, I think you're out of luck. It's in CS2, and CS3. I will let you know, however, that CS3's panorama maker is much MUCH better.

it's there in my CS1 as well fruity. i already tried, it didn't turn out well though...

I use elements 3, and to make a new photomerge panorama, I go

File>New>Photomerge Panorama...
