Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS USM

Okay, I know this isn't exactly a lens for beginners. In fact this is the grand-daddy of all telephoto lenses. And for $4000 it darn well better be. It's arguably the highest quality lens Canon has ever made. Fast focus, great bokeh, excellent sharpness...you couldn't ask for more. And for that much money you probably might. It's even got Image Stabilization which adds "an extra stop" for even better low light performance. I got to try one of these at a tradeshow and it was amazing how well it performed in low light. You might need a tripod for it though, because it weighs almost 6 lbs (that's a LOT of glass). The paparazzi lens of choice!
